Raleigh, N.C. (January 21, 2014) – Hospice of Wake County (HOWC), serving terminally ill patients in Wake, Durham, Johnston, Franklin and Harnett Counties has selected Media Partners, Inc. (MPI) as marketing agency of record for the Foundation’s capital campaign that launched in late 2013. MPI is a growing media marketing agency specializing in media buying, creative services and public relations.

HOWC will raise $6M to expand its Hospice Home, a 20-bed hospice facility used to care for people and families needing a comfortable environment and end-of-life services. MPI’s primary task is to develop marketing materials and secure paid and earned media to support a fundraising campaign vitally needed for this endeavor.  Ten additional rooms are planned to help HOWC keep pace with the Triangle’s growing population.According to HOWC Vice President of Development, Michael Blanchard, previous project work led to the new agency partnership opportunity.  “Since 2010, MPI has supported HOWC’s “Big Bad Ball,” an annual black-tie gala that helped us raise funds for the Benevolent Care Program and Grief Center,” said Blanchard.  “The agency has provided award-winning creative design and collateral for these events.  When we began to consider an expansion campaign, there was no question that we wanted to go forward with MPI.”

MPI and HOWC have since introduced the Power of 10, a campaign that speaks to the real impact 10 additional rooms will offer Hospice as demand for services increases.  MPI’s creative work shows both the space and the services that will be available with community support, positioned with the message: “It’s only 10 rooms, yet they have the power to changes lives exponentially.”

“The Triangle population has increased 37% in the past 10 years and is predicted to be the fastest-growing metro area through 2025,” said MPI Partner Sal Conino.  “This includes the 75-and-over population as retirees move closer to children and grandchildren.  At MPI, we wanted to create a campaign that conveyed the real power just 10 more rooms could offer Hospice and the growing community.”

The expanded facility will help Hospice serve an estimated 300 more patients and their families each year.    For the first phase, MPI developed several concepts for early consideration, but the Power of 10 campaign received unanimous support from the capital campaign steering committee.  Collateral materials to date in the Power of 10 concept include a brochure, stationery package, invitations, envelopes and various one-sheets for inclusion in the custom folders.  The second phase is expected to begin this spring and will include some external advertising.  To see these materials visit: http://mediapartners-inc.com.

“We are honored to have the opportunity to create this important campaign,” said MPI Partner Nancy Bono.  “Being selected for this effort meant a lot to all of us.  Hospice is an area of care that has a personal impact for many of us at MPI. We’re proud to continue our work with HOWC and are all very excited about achieving results that will make a difference in the lives of Triangle residents.” said Bono.

Last year, MPI earned three award recognitions on behalf of HOWC and the 2012 Big Bad Ball: Ad Club of the Triangle, creative award for event materials; PRSA Bronze Inspire award for PR and event materials and a Sir Walter Raleigh award for PR and event materials.
